The Hitching Post Tack Supply, know in the local area as just “The Hitching Post” was started by our family in October of 2006 in Rochester, Massachusetts. It was started in a small store that we took over the back room to start our enterprise. The store was started with JPC and Tuffrider breeches, paddock boots, and equine supplies. Soon we found a need for helmets and we were able to bring in the International Riding Helmet (IRH) line and along with that came the products for Intec Performance Riding Gear. Soon, we were bringing in horse supplements, joint care products, weight gain and equine vitamins. The supply end of the business has grown considerably and we had to add pet feeds and dog accessories to help with our barn friends. In 2007, we became resellers for Charles Owen helmets, Irideon riding clothing, and Kerrits Performance and Activewear. We also added equine supply companies like Thornhill, Toklat, Farnam, Vita-flex, Absorbine, Woof Wear, and Perri’s Leather to our inventory.
In 2008, we are in the process of adding the Carhartt line of men and their NEW line of Womens work clothing. Many of the barn owners love their breeches for riding, but when it comes to working the farm, they expressed that they would be more comfortable in Carhartt work wear. We have been able to expand because of our service and care for our customers, and we hope that with this website, we will be able to provide the same level of customer service for all horse lovers.
